PLAY THE SQUARE
Play The Square was co-designed by Mothers Who Make, together with muf architecture/art and Hackney Council. Mothers and children led the design of playful features - child-sized chairs, stepping stones, and planter bridges - shaping the redevelopment of Hackney Town Hall Square while gaining hands-on experience in co-design and public space interventions.

A SPACE OF OPPORTUNITY
The Pop-Out Shop was designed as a flexible space to showcase initiatives, businesses, and creativity. It now supports events at the Round Chapel Old School Rooms and can be used by the mothers in their future projects. Mothers Who Make was supported by Westfield East Bank Creative Futures Fund.

A SPACE TO SHARE STUFF
The Toy Library was designed and built by Mothers Who Make, a collective of single mothers in Hackney. The women created a space to share and give away children’s items for free, while learning practical skills in furniture design, material handling, and finishing. Supported by Hackney Council’s Community Chest Fund.
